Andria Zweigart
STATEMENT
Situations presented in multi-media or mixed media focus on the concept of irony and result in lighthearted whimsy or a sense of tragedy, unease and even danger. The artwork ultimately challenges our first impressions or takes a deeper look at human behavior. Common themes include Man vs. Nature as well as the many issues and roles mankind faces today. Both topics are investigations considered in contemporary society.
The Flower Series is an extension of the concept of tragic irony as seen in the fleeting moment. The full bloom of a flower can be enjoyed and captured in a single moment, but faces a tragic future. The physical act of creating the artwork is in itself a captured moment.
The dichotomy of finding beauty in destruction or beauty in mundane items elevates the work. Something as simple as a flower creates an interaction with the audience in the moment. The viewer is in control of the interaction. The time spent interacting is either enjoyed, or a missed opportunity. In today’s fast paced society and image overload, missed opportunities are endless as human behavior many times fails to enjoy the moment of simple beauty.
Commission work is tailored to each client, incorporating mixed media techniques to create a unique and one of a kind piece.
